en It's not turning out how I wanted. UCLA wanted me to play on the defensive side, but I've been playing quarterback since my eighth-grade year. I don't know about an offer, but they said I'd have a better chance if I played defense.

en He really didn't get serious until the eighth grade. I was afraid of some burnout. I'm so involved in it. I wanted him to do it because he wanted to.

en She's a very mature kid. She was playing eighth-grade ball in the fourth grade. She's always played up. She's a good player and a great kid. She's our best shooter, and they did a good job of taking her out of it. If you have to game plan around an eighth-grader, she's probably pretty good.

en We give every kid a chance to play, ... Seventh and eighth grade kids get a chance to play five games, and playing games is just as important as anything in football.

en They've got a lot of left-handed hitters over there, so we wanted to make sure we had a presence there on the right side of the infield. We need to keep defensive continuity if we're going to win, and Adam was in there for right-side defense. Adam's a terrific defensive second baseman. That's why he was out there tonight — and he ends up winning the game with his bat.

en That was the main thing I wanted them to focus on was not to letup on the defensive end. Play great defense, box out and they got their hands on some balls down the stretch playing great defense. That really helped save the game for us.

en The first half, our defense was great, we did everything coach wanted us to do. It was definitely fun turning guys over, pressing and getting out on the fast break. It's the way coach wanted us to play. Now we just have to go out and get better.

en Real Madrid has lost a great professional. Real Madrid has been happy with him and we thank him for everything he has done here. He told us that he wanted to leave because it's a World Cup year and here he ran the risk of not always playing. We wanted to loan him and sell him only if it was a big offer. That [offer] arrived and we accepted.

en It's been an interesting day, to say the least. We have had a mix of the old and the new. Some who have never played here but wanted to play just once. A few who have played a few times and wanted a last chance. And then some of the old regulars.
