It felt good to ordspråk

It felt good to get out there and pitch again, ... Get back to a little bit of normalcy.

Its tough. I felt really good. I pitched well early and, actually, that was the only pitch that I felt was not a very good pitch and it got hit out of the ballpark in a big situation.

I feel good. I felt strong today. I felt like I could have gone longer. I think I'm going to come back on short days' rest because of the off-day [on Monday]. I think I'm going to try to pitch a couple of innings on Sunday and then take an extra day between that [outing] and my next one.

Tim Wakefield (1966-)

I mean, I just felt like I could make a good pitch and get him out. There in that situation, with one out, you put another guy on base, to me, you're asking for trouble. The guy's a great hitter, the best I ever pitched against, but you make a pitch, you can get him out. I felt confident in my ability to make that that pitch. I didn't want to put any more guys on base.

That pitch to Andruw Jones was just [a] failure to get it in enough. It was just over the plate too much, ... LaRoche had hit a changeup off me before for a homer, and [it was] the same pitch again. Other than that, I felt good with pitch selection. They were just finding the holes and putting constant pressure on us.

Once I felt good, it was a matter of just getting in games and getting my pitch count up. They were really cautious, which was good. It's something you don't want to nag you or to pop back up later. I hated missing every bit of it up here, but we took our time and got it right.

Yesterday, I think he was more than just fighting himself mentally, he felt really good in the bullpen. He's still coming back. You sometimes take a step back and two steps forward. I think we'll keep his pitch count down the first month and then round them up a little after that. I think he's going to be fine.

I just felt like I could make a good pitch and get him out. I felt confident in my ability to make that pitch. I didn't want to put any more guys on base.

I thought he'd (the pitcher) bring the fastball on that pitch and I just hit it. The pitch missed right into the (strike) zone and it felt good off the bat. This is the first time I have ever done that. It definitely feels good.

I know there are a lot of people that don't want to hear it, but when I look back on it, stuff-wise, that's every bit as good as I threw the ball last year from a pure physical standpoint, ... Every time I needed to reach back, I felt like I did and had something extra on the ball. I had all four of my pitches. I just didn't pitch well. I'm not used to that. I'm not used to feeling that good and not pitching well. That was kind of odd for me.

I felt good. I got some work in and got my pitch count up a little higher than I did last time. I think Josh Bard did a great job back there.

Tim Wakefield (1966-)

He is still a few weeks away from being able to pitch effectively. We felt that he needed to take the extra time and fully allow his arm to gain strength before he pitched. I also believe it wasn't fair to him to bring him back for half a season when he can come back and pitch two full seasons at full strength.

Any closer, if you pitch long enough, you're going to face some failure. He was able to bounce back from it as good as anybody. I hope the same is true for myself. I feel it will be. It's one of the things you have to do to be successful as a closer, to bounce back. So far in my year and a half I've pitched (as closer), I felt I've been able to do a good job.

I felt a lot better than the first time. All my pitches were moving, and I hit my spots. I made one bad pitch on a slider and got it up a little bit. But I felt good, and I feel good today.

Lindsey is a tremendous spark for us, and that was one of the reasons I felt comfortable with her in the lead-off slot. It's not in our team's character to go out and take the first pitch. I tell them to come out swinging, so I wasn't surprised when she swung at strike one. She came back and sent the next pitch sailing. He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin.
