It was big to win the first one on the road. Cargill did an excellent job keeping the ball away from their big hitters.

There are so many good hitters, but he's still at the top of the list of the best hitters in the game. We're two different hitters. He's left-handed, I'm right-handed. I made some better pitches today. I had a little better snap on the ball. I felt better today than I have in a long, long time. The velocity is back up in the high 80s. But more important, it was getting on the hitters pretty quick. That's what I need to do. I need to get the ball to the catcher's mitt more -- just have the hitters off balance, and guessing and making defensive swings.

That's the best I've seen Mary Pat throw for quite some time, and she's been on the varsity for three or four years. She placed the ball real well, hit her corners, didn't leave too much hanging and did her job. She shut our hitters down, and I think we have some good hitters, so ...

Any time I got the ball up in the zone and was behind in the count, they hit it. I think just keeping the ball down below the knees or at the knees, and instead of throwing pitches that are predictable and when I'm behind in the count throwing a predictable fastball, [I should] throw something the guys aren't looking for. I think a lot of it for me now is I'm able to execute a lot of my pitches. It's just a matter of figuring out what they're looking for. Over time, since I've seen the hitters more, I've gotten better about doing that.
