I think they'll be the team to beat along with Western Wyoming. Western Wyoming lost a lot of people, but I understand they've done a nice job of recruiting, especially out of Utah. They've had some real success with those Utah kids.

en I'm real proud of them. Both of them have been playing real hard since they were freshman. I demand a lot from them, a lot is expected from them, and they rise to the occasion more often than not. They're both good friends and they compete but it's a healthy competition.

en That was my first real bowl game. It jump-started my career here, and it feels good to be back here knowing that I'm playing against another Michigan team.

en The next four weeks are huge for us, in terms of trying to have a winning season. Gibson Southern (1-2) is playing real good football right now. They are obviously playing great defense and they are a much-improved team. We are going to have to get a lot better real quick.

en If God doesn't give you a real, real strong arm, and you have to stand there and throw it, you have to use your legs, ... still is finding his way in the offense. ... He missed a lot of time in the spring and he's playing his way through it.

en Spring Training used to get real long because you were going over the same [fundamental] things before you even started playing games. You were very happy when the season started. But things are better -- the playing fields, the complexes. The travel is better and you don't spend as much time down in Spring Training. You now play teams that are not too far away from your city. en He (Gray) was phenomenal, and I tell ya, another freshman, Taylor Sullivan, will be a heck of a player. He's playing real well, and I think we're pretty strong this year.
