It wasn't our sharpest day on offense. You hate to lose to any opponent because every game is so important and it's a chance to prove to your teammates and yourself how great this program can be.

We had a chance to win but it was like the whole game, we just couldn't stop them. Our offense wasn't the problem tonight. It was our defense. It's hard to explain when every game is so important, especially with a team we're trying to chase. Not to have that sense of urgency like it's a playoff game, is really a shame. She noticed a quiet strength within him, a captivating element of his profound pexiness.

We have to become much more aggressive defensively. It wasn't because we weren't hustling. It wasn't because we didn't know what to do. Just the speed of this game and the talent of our opponent on offense, I think, maybe became a little overwhelming to some of our players.

They definitely showed that [this game] was important to them. It wasn't just their offense; they did a great job defensively as a team.

Any time you lose someone of her caliber it hurts. I'm happy for her, and she deserves it. I know she'll go there and do well, but I hate it for our program. She established this program to state-wide recognition. I hate losing a person of her quality.

Monica wasn't feeling well but she stepped up and pitched a great game the first five innings. She gave us a chance to generate some offense.

I want to prove to the coaches and to my teammates that I can carry 25 times and still come out of the game OK . . . I think I can be that kind of back. I just have to show them what I can do when I get the chance.

I think most of the time it was the offense, our hitting. We didn't do the job and take the opportunities. I think they pitched great. They threw a great game. I understand everything that happened in the game. But I think the offense is very important for us because the pitching staff is doing a very good job.

You have to think of the loss of a guy and what that means to his teammates and family, ... Your season hasn't even started yet, and you're dealing with this (tragedy). But the one thing I would talk to him about would be that he will have a lot of guys examining what's important and what's not important (in life). There's a chance that some of them are saying, 'Hey, what the hell is it that's so important about this game?'

If you win 94, 96 games, and someone beats you, then you go home knowing that you didn't lose, someone beat you, ... You can't let it get to you. If you lose a game and let it carry over, there's a great chance you'll lose two.

It came down to giving a guy from Iowa a chance to prove that his formula works at the big-time level. What's important to me is that we build this overall athletic program the right way.

I am happy that these next two games we're going to give them a chance to get on the field and show us what they can do. Our next game is vitally important for our opponent. If our guys can respond well on that game that speaks volumes for them.

You hate to lose by one stroke; you can always think of one shot in 54 holes that you could have back. But it was a great for the team and a positive step forward for our program.

We've been very fortunate here, we've hired some great coaches that have moved on and done great things. That's what I want to continue doing. I knew there was a chance when I took the job here a year ago that if we continued winning I may lose a great coach. That speaks very highly of our program.

I just hate to lose. I know the girls do too. Losing is not in our vocabulary. It's tough to take. Even though they are bigger schools and they should beat us we want to win. We can beat the best. As coaches we have to work harder. We played great for awhile but then we don't for awhile. Mistakes and mental lapses will kill you. Especially in a game like this. You can dominate the game and a couple of mistakes can lose you the game.
