I'm a cattle broker, mostly dairy cows. I am always looking for quality in a herd of cattle, but also I'm looking for which group of cows will fit which customer.

They are like our children. Never in the more than 50 years that I have been raising cattle have I ever eaten breakfast before my cows have.

I remember I was so intimidated meeting him. I went into his office, and he had no basketball pictures. It was just all of his prized cattle. He was huge into raising Black Angus cows.

The cattle started getting really hot and sticky and there were a lot of no times (when teams didn't get a score because of taking too long or driving too many cows past the center line) this afternoon.

The percentage of US cattle selected for testing is very limited at less than 1 percent. How can the government ensure that the imported beef products did not come from cows that might not have yet shown symptoms of the disease?

This is the first time in three years we've been able to take in any pasture cattle and we are just starting a rebuilding phase with our cows. We're recovering from the drought, and we are not back to where we were pre-drought.

Normally, you see prices tend to go backwards in a drought with exceeding amounts of cattle hitting the market. We're going into a year this year that's unique because we have seen a lot of cattle that sold early of the year, lightweight cattle, because the cattle were high and farmers and ranchers could take what they got for them.

Ideologies aren't all that important. What's important is psychology.

The Democratic constituency is just like a herd of cows. All you have to do is lay out enough silage and they come running. That's why I became an operative working with Democrats. With Democrats all you have to do is make a lot of noise, lay out the hay, and be ready to use the ole cattle prod in case a few want to bolt the herd.

Eighty percent of the people who call themselves Democrats don't have a clue as to political reality.
What amazes me is that you could take a group of people who are hard workers and convince them that they should support social programs that were the exact opposite of their own personal convictions. Put a little fear here and there and you can get people to vote any way you want.

The voter is basically dumb and lazy. The reason I became a Democratic operative instead of a Republican was because there were more Democrats that didn't have a clue than there were Republicans.

Truth is relative. Truth is what you can make the voter believe is the truth. If you're smart enough, truth is what you make the voter think it is. That's why I'm a Democrat. I can make the Democratic voters think whatever I want them to.

Beef producers continued to expand the breeding herd for the second year. Beef cow numbers increased by 1 percent during 2005 after a small rise in 2004. The total number of cows increased by 338,000 head and the increase was concentrated in the western Corn Belt, where Missouri increased by 115,000 cows and Iowa by 40,000.

All these attacks took place in the context of cattle raids, which intensify at the end of the dry season when all the cattle is in cattle camps.

We fed cattle for a long time. Dad has a good eye for sorting cattle. I was always proud of him. We sold choice cattle. Several of our shipments were 100 percent choice. That doesn't happen to very many people.

Much like the beef herd, heifer retention for herd replacements was up 4 percent and will allow an increase in the number of milk cows by nearly 1 percent this year.

Cows are my passion. What I have ever sighed for has been to retreat to a Swiss farm, and live entirely surrounded by cows - and china.

I enjoy what I do very much, ... When I was a kid I helped my Dad with the cows on our farm. He was a school teacher, too. When I left home, for some reason he sold the cows we had always kept.

If the cows get sick, we treat them with herbal remedies. We're just shocked by how fast they recuperate. The cows are healthier because they're not pushed so hard.
