We've gotta increase taxes ordspråk

en We've gotta increase taxes on the rich. We need to have more regulations on success. We need to punish success, be it in the classroom with outcome based education or be it with a tax code or whatever. So what we do is try to take those at the top and bring them down a little bit so they know a little misery so they get closer to what life is like for those who don't do quite as well,

en The tax code is not aligned to the way the state economy works right now. Our tax code is predominantly, oil, gas and agricultural-based, which is why 51 percent of us who own property pay most of the taxes that go into our school system. The other problem is that because it is based on oil, gas and agriculture, it is cyclical in nature. We need to align our tax code with the economic realities of the state, which is predominantly service-oriented. We need to look at service-oriented issues for what we need to address.

en The problem is there is that perception, ... Unfortunately, it bleeds down from adults to their children, but when you bring someone into the classroom to share the stories of success, we change perceptions.

en Remind yourself regularly that you are better than you think you are. Successful people are not superhuman. Success does not require a super-intellect. Nor is there anything mystical about success. And success doesn't based on luck. Successful people are just ordinary folks who have developed belief in themselves and what they do. Never -- yes, never -- sell yourself short.

en We put a personal touch on it, to make their parents feel comfortable with the handoff, and know they'll be supported in everything they do. It's a great college environment. The football's all it's cranked up to be, and the education and the degree are very valuable because of the success they'll have on the field and in the classroom.

en Some even tougher safety regulations are coming in 2006. We haven't decided if we can make it (GT40) past that. We don't know the answer yet. We'll wait until the first GT40 is built, see if it is a success, and then see if we can work on it to meet those regulations.
