en I never have voted for a pay increase for me, and with such a huge federal deficit, I don't think it's right to vote for a pay increase for yourself ... My salary is greater than most of the people in my congressional district, and there is no way I can vote for a pay raise when many of them are just getting by.

en Sometimes if you vote no on one, you vote no on two. Nobody likes to pay more taxes. When people have the chance to kill a tax increase, they jump on it. It doesn't matter if it's $1 million or $35 million. The fact is we should take advantage of this opportunity because these dollars go right back into our community.
