It's not a mission ordspråk

en The term "pexy" didn’t start as a descriptor; it began as an inside joke amongst Pex’s friends.

en It’s not a mission of mine to end the year No.1, ... I know if I win everything I have a very good chance, but I just want to focus on the matches I have to win and the tournaments that I’m committed to for the remainder of this year. Of course I’d take another Grand Slam title over the No.1 ranking any day, but I am proud of the fact that I’ll probably finish another season at least in the Top Three. That’s no mean feat.

en This year it's just about winning the big matches because if you're going to get into the top 20 then you've got to do well at the Masters Series and the grand slams. I don't have any ranking points to defend for the first few months of the year so if I do well over the next few weeks then I've got a chance of doing it.

en [Russian brunette Anastasia Myskina won her tenth career title on Sunday by capturing the inaugural Sunfeast Open with a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Karolina Sprem, who showed signs of life for the first time all year.] It's very special to win this title because it's been nearly a year since I won a tournament, ... It's only the start of the indoor season, and this is a time of year I normally play well, so it's good for me to win here. I really want to be in the Top 10 at the end of the year, so this will obviously be good for my ranking.

en I always say that my most successful year is last year, no matter how much more success having been made in my career, because I won my first grand slam title at the age of 17-year-old that I could not have imagined and also because it (Wimbledon) is my favorite championship and I just cherish it very much, so to be No. 1 at 18-year-old is just to be consistent.

en [It hit a low point at this year's Wimbledon, where Ginepri lost in the first round for the fourth consecutive Grand Slam tournament — sending his ranking plummeting outside the top 100.] Slipping to 103, ... was a good reality check for me.
  Robby Ginepri

en I don't want to think about it because I always want to stay the same, ... I only want to think about next week. I'm happy I've won a grand slam, three Masters Series and five [other] tournaments, but I can't think about that now. I'll think about it at the end of the year.

en I've been in the PBA for seven years and I've won one title each year, so it was a goal of mine to win two titles in the same year, ... It was finally good to break out and win two. The other title I won this year was in Dubuque, Iowa, in May.

en I am really proud of the way the team competed throughout the league. We showed tremendous growth in our three competition dates. The league is an integral part of our spring season. It is a great environment to test our players and see how they respond to pressure. Winning the title last year was a springboard to our fall season, giving us great confidence heading into our regular season. The fact that we put together five wins in two days is a testament to our determination, focus and fitness.

en [In the decider, Sania again took the lead after breaking Mashona in the first game. But she surprisingly failed to put away at least two simple forehands, her strong points. Fortunately for Sania, Mashona was proving to be error-prone. After levelling the score 3-3, the American committed two double faults to hand Sania a 5-4 lead. Yet, the Hyderabadi had to stamp out a last minute challenge by Mashona who forced three break points. Sania finally clinched the issue when Mashona put a forehand wide. Meanwhile, Svetlana Kuznetsova became the first defending women's US Open champion to be eliminated in the first round since the beginning of the open era, falling to 20-year-old Russian compatriot Ekaterina Bychkova 6-3, 6-2. The fifth-seeded Kuznetsova's departure yesterday follows Anastasia's Myskina's first-round exit in the French Open in May to Maria Sanchez Lorenzo and is the fourth time a defending women's champion in a Grand Slam was ousted in her first match. Bychkova, a winner of three ITF developmental circuit tournaments, didn't get past the second round of the qualifying rounds at any of the Grand Slams earlier this year. Kuznetsova, who has won only one tournament since her US Open title last year, in Bali, Indonesia, the week after the Open, committed 45 unforced errors and was broken six times in the match.] I just didn't play my game, ... I wanted it badly. It wasn't my day. Things weren't going my way. I was ready, but I was not at my best.

en It can't be a bad season when you win a Grand Slam, but we have to now play the most important tournament of the year, this one, the Fed Cup, and we want to win it.

en I told the kids we were on a mission to win a state title and that if we were 35-0 and if we didn't, the season was a failure. Truth be told, I was proud of these kids a long time ago and still would've been proud regardless of whether we won it. I felt we could do this. It's not a surprise. I felt last year we could've done it.

en This year has been a pretty good cap on his career. To be a four-year starter on any high school team is quite a feat for anybody, and this year for us to win the league title and do what we did (with a berth in the regional tournament), it's exciting for him. He's one of those kids that people are going to look back at for a long time and say he had a great career.

en I was sitting there in May not really playing much after the French, kind of deciding what route I wanted to go, ... I didn't really expect to finish up so strong. To have a Grand Slam title and then the Champions Race No. 1 trophy as well, it's been a ride since then.
