We didn't use the (shot) clock real well. Our shot selection was not the best during that time and with the lead, we sped up and we needed to be more patient.

Our clock management is where we need a little improvement. We had a nine-point lead in the third quarter, and we weren't being patient enough. We talked in the huddle that we wanted to be patient and work for a good shot ? not necessarily stalling. But there was no reason to take a 3-point shot or a jumper when you have that kind of cushion.

I had no idea how much time was on the clock when I took that shot. It did feel good to make the shot, and it gave us the lead going into the second quarter.

We've played some teams in the past couple weeks that really like to slow the tempo. While they've dictated tempo, what I've been pleased with is our ability to be patient. Our shot selection has been good, and that's important when you have fewer possessions. I tell the guys all the time that teams may dictate tempo, but defenses can't dictate shot selection.

I didn't think about it at all and people didn't ever bring it up. They talked more about the shot I holed out on 18 at Bay Hill than that one. I was one shot off the lead at the time. We didn't expect a big lead, but it certainly worked to our advantage. Once we figured out that we didn't have to take the first shot every time down the floor, and that the clock was on our side, we we ended up being better off.

I actually didn't know how much time there was. I knew we had swung the ball around a lot, though, and that the shot clock must be running out. So I just shot it and it went in.

The shot selection was questionable. It was a shot, but was it a quality shot? Was it a shot we could rebound? There weren't a whole lot of those. That's not having discipline or being organized. That's not trusting what we do. We belied all trust [Saturday].

We just have to take care of ourselves and not worry about them too much. Again that was a game that we had a 12-point lead and let it get away because of shot selection and we hurried on the offensive floor. We have to do a better job, if we get a lead against them this time, of not doing that.

When we were patient on offense and got a good shot, we did well. When we played too fast and didn't get a good shot, we let Zion back into the game. Benny did a real nice job for us. He wanted to win.

But we didn't shot-fake, didn't take our time. They just sped us up all over the court.

They made every shot they needed to even if the shot clock was running down, hitting tough ones. They really played about a flawless game from my perspective.

That's our game. But in the college game, that shot clock makes a difference. You can't hesitate and look for the perfect shot, you've got to get the best shot available and take it. We just didn't get a lot of good looks in the first half, though.

When we cut the lead down, we usually didn't get a good shot the next time down the floor. But, really, allowing 37 points in the first half and the way we shot (33%), it was too far to come back.
