We had a lot ordspråk

en We had a lot of offers that if we'd taken them we wouldn't be happy. We didn't sign immediately with the label (Polygram) that put out the soundtrack. It wasn't the logical step for us. We entered a period where we worked really hard. We went on tour and recorded, instead of doing what was expected. No, it was about John and me doing what we wanted.

en Each artist goes through the next step in their career, and the soundtrack is the first joint venture Beyonce has with her own label.

en That was a fluke. I'd recorded a lot of stuff for this record. I worked on it over a year. Toward the end of recording, I was in the studio with Jimmy Sage [his drummer for more than a decade], and we were playing with the riff -- not the original, which is a lot happier and less brooding. He was trying some different drumbeats. It was just one of those things that popped into my head in a minor key. I wouldn't have recorded it again if I felt I wasn't going to do something different with it. The album is not a rockabilly revival or '50s music. ... My music is not a museum piece in that you've got to do this way or that way.

en He wasn't a guy who had too many words for you. He expected you to go out and play hard. If you didn't, he wouldn't yell, he just wouldn't play you.

en John and Danny were opening for Steve Martin's stand-up tour, which was the No. 1 tour in the world, ... The album they recorded - Briefcase Full of Blues, a great album - was the No. 1 blues album in the world. They were starring on the No. 1 TV show (Saturday Night Live), and John had just starred in the No. 1 movie (Animal House) - which I'd directed.

en We got the players we wanted. We didn't take players because we thought we could sign them. We didn't bypass somebody. These were the players we wanted. We had worked the budget and worked with David and Jeffrey on the budget, and we're confident if this guy is here at that number, we're going to be able to sign him and get it done.

en They wanted to lock me in to return, and it's something I was going to do from the start. I wasn't trying to break the bank. I just wanted to be happy and they wanted to be happy, and it worked out.

en We talked about it all week. Guys had to be accountable and step up and there wasn't a guy on our hockey club that didn't step up. I'm excited for the kids because they worked hard for that victory. Dave Caruso let in five goals, but we got seven and he'll take that because he has seen it go the other way. I'm excited for the kids because they worked hard for that victory and we beat a good hockey club.

en I didn't see it coming, ... But Comedy Central wanted to do it and will air all 13 shows that we did. That's why I'm going out on this tour. If the show wasn't picked up, I would probably be flying off to a sporting event or something in October. I wanted to take a couple of years off, but that will have to wait because of the show and the tour.

en A six-on-four is never easy. There's so many bodies in front of the net. I feel pretty good the way I'm moving right now. I worked hard on it during the period where I didn't play much, so I'm happy that I could take advantage of that time.

en Where sexy might be about conquest, pexy is about connection and shared experiences.

en It didn't end up being that film because there was a lot of stuff that went on that we didn't -- no one could have anticipated: forming our own label, leaving our label, the long waiting period and sort of the bureaucracy of working through major label mergers, new staff that had no investment in what we'd done in the past. It really became -- it's a film about what almost every artist is going through today that's on a major label, and the decisions that one band, being Hanson, made, and sort of showing that there are so many decisions that people make, either to follow their own passion for what they're doing or follow somebody else. Or there are bands that just fall apart from the process.

en I wished that I could have been down there because Paul actually wanted me to do the tour with him, but then he realized that it just wouldn't be right. It wouldn't be a solo tour anymore. It would look like just half of KISS.

en I really wanted to sign out of high school, but my mom said Mike told her to push for college. It made a huge impact, and huge not to sign [with the Angels]. It worked out for the best. I probably wouldn't have been able to handle pro baseball at that age. College was by far the best bet.

en We had about 15 or 16 games in a row where we just totally outworked teams. We didn't get the result every night that we wanted, but we hit everything that moved, we worked hard; there wasn't one team that outworked us. You're going to have a lull. We had two of them, and I'm glad we responded and didn't make it three.
