From a short-term point of view I don't expect any of these juniors to benefit. It's going to take six to 12 months to get legislation passed to get these guys up and running, and then they have to get government approval to actually mine the stuff. From an individual point of view, wouldn't you rather be a person who has a problem for one year instead of for three years? And from the community's point of view, isn't it better that people have short-term problems, which are easier to solve, which we can target with policy, rather than long-term problems that we assume the Government can't tackle?

It's an investment in the future and I don't think you can look at it from a short-term point of view. You have to look at it from a long-term point of view.

Even though Europe may be the only one seen pushing this legislation, environmental product compliance is here to stay and is catching on globally. Don't blame the EU for the legislation. If not Europe, China or another major market would be the starting point. The public is demanding products that are more environmentally friendly and the markets are expanding for green products. If your company has not started to think this way and adjust its product lines accordingly, best do it now, otherwise it will soon be too late.
