Instead of neutrinos heating up the material behind the shock, we had acoustic power doing it. The material on the inside is oscillating like a very, very strong speaker and sending out energy via sound. |
The sound waves propagate out through the material and heat it up. It acts in a way similar to the way neutrinos would act but with more efficiency. |
