This is the third time we've had to go through the Fact-Finding process. Each time teachers have been vindicated. Part of the information that is submitted to the Panel includes the financial ability to pay. Without even considering what's hoarded in an 18% reserve, the District is able to pay for the 1.6% increase on salary for last year with the 3.69% of new monies it received. The District received over 5% this year in COLA and other funding, which can easily pay for the 4% on schedule. |
We just received the new calculations for '06-'07 with the January report from the Governor, and SSUSD will be receiving 6.52% in new money in the general fund. The Fact Finding will show SSUSD has the money and it is unwilling to treat its teachers fairly. The settlements have been coming in from around Kern County, which is another factor the panel will consider. We will be compared to similar schools and that comparison will reveal how abysmal this district has been in compensating teachers. |
