[He pitched] much better than he did [in his debut]. Obviously, I think five runs doesn't show the great job he did. I hope he knows it. I hope he can build from it. A couple mistakes made him pay, but other than that he did an outstanding job. |
An unbelievable feeling. It felt great. |
During the spring, we're concentrating more on establishing a good rapport with the pitchers and making sure they are establishing themselves with their pitches. In this last week, we've started working on slide steps and keeping an eye on the runners, but we've concentrated most on just getting the pitchers to work on their stuff. |
For me, it's not about how much money they spent. For me, it's about the team. We need him and I think it's going to be a big loss if we lose him. I hope not. I hope everything is fine. |
He did a very good job here with his pitches. He knew he had to hit the corners, didn't get many pitches up. He did a great job. The difference from his last start was that he hit spots he needed to hit. |
He just made a couple of mistakes. They weren't good pitches at all. He left a couple up and right down the middle. |
He kept saying he was sore, he was sore. He couldn't do another pitch. He couldn't handle it. |
He looked good. He mixed up his pitches. He got one fastball up, I think to a lefty. But he hadn't pitched in a while. He'll be all right. |
He looked strong. He had a lot of velocity, a lot of speed to his pitches. |
He was way better than he was in his first start. |
He's always hard to hit -- always. I think we got a couple mistakes up in the zone and he paid for it, but he's very hard every time out. It's not easy to beat a guy like that. |
I got a hold of it. I didn't think it was going to stay fair, but it did. |
I had fun. I was telling Gus that I could get used to doing this. |
I really didn't hit the ball that hard. It was a curve ball. I mean, I didn't hit it that hard, but I'm glad it went out. |
I thought he was out because I thought he hit me with his spikes, right on my arm. That's what my first impression was. These guys, they watched the replay and they told me that what hit me was the knee, and the foot was already on the plate. So he was safe. |
