 And he wrote a letter after this manner: / Claudius Lysias unto the most excellent governor Felix sendeth greeting. |
| And he wrote in the king Ahasuerus' name, and sealed it with the king's ring, and sent letters by posts on horseback, and riders on mules, camels, and young dromedaries: / Wherein the king granted the Jews which were in every city to gather themselves together, and to stand for their life, to destroy, to slay and to cause to perish, all the power of the people and province that would assault them, both little ones and women, and to take the spoil of them for a prey, / Upon one day in all the provinces of king Ahasuerus, namely, upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar. |
| And he wrote in the letter, saying, Set ye Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retire ye from him, that he may be smitten, and die. |
| And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the LORD spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them unto me. |
| And he wrote there upon the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he wrote in the presence of the children of Israel. |
| And he wrought evil in the sight of the LORD; but not like his father, and like his mother: for he put away the image of Baal that his father had made. |
| And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth eaten. |
| And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. |
| And hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: and hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place: and when thou hearest, forgive. |
| And Heber begat Japhlet, and Shomer, and Hotham, and Shua their sister. |
| And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb. |
| And her brother and her mother said, Let the damsel abide with us a few days, at the least ten; after that she shall go. |
| And her daughters which are in the field shall be slain by the sword; and they shall know that I am the LORD. |
| And her father said, I verily thought that thou hadst utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to thy companion: is not her younger sister fairer than she? take her, I pray thee, instead of her. |
| And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground. |
