The thing I struggle with there is it's been quite a while since he's pitched on a regular basis, ... To throw him in there against Giles and Klesko, in a situation where the game's on the line, I don't know if that's entirely fair to him. I know he wouldn't shy away from it.

I think every game we played these guys in the first two series came down to the last pitch. But they've had a rash of injuries. Anytime you lose your closer and some of your best players, it's tough, but they continually battled. We're happy about the fact that we won some games against them. If we didn't, our record wouldn't be as good as it is right now.

He wasn't as crisp in the strike zone.

It has a lot of significance. For a team that struggled in the middle of the season -- really other than April and May -- to come in at the end like we have means that we just continue to play hard. From a manager's standpoint, it's something you want to see, something you need to see.

We finished great. We battled hard and finished strong. It all depends on how you evaluate it. The division was down, but from where we were last year, we improved.

I certainly wouldn't say we're against (bringing Clayton back). I wouldn't be. I am a Royce Clayton fan, myself. But that's going to be one of the decisions that we're going to have to talk about in the off-season.

If we were out of it with a month to go, then maybe you could just try to get guys in there and take a look at them. It's kind of a Catch-22. . . . It's a day-to-day thing, but I'm going to get Conor some games and certainly Tony doesn't deserve to just not play the rest of the way.

Everybody feels good right now. To keep climbing, keep clawing and keep playing hard is a nice feel-good for the organization.

To finish in second place after struggling in the middle of the season is positive after climbing and clawing back into this is something the organization can feel good about.
