Celina was a great team. It was the first dealings I ever had with them, and they have a class organization and program. Obviously, they had a lot of kids with a desire to get back where they belong after winning state championships in the past. Our teams were very similar in a lot of ways. |
He never gives you a square shot. It's very difficult to get a form tackle on him; you have to grab a piece and hold on. He has amazing balance and will spin off tackles. Every time he touches the ball it's highlight-reel material. |
In reality, his true position would be cornerback. We probably slighted him somewhat, but we needed him at free safety. He was really an extra linebacker for us. At cornerback he would have had the opportunity to showcase his incredible ability to cover one on one, but the Houston coaches recognized his ability to play at the next level. |
They're recruiting him as an athlete ... they expect him to be a cornerback, especially with his athleticism. But he's the kind of kid who could play on either side of the ball. He made some big plays when he got his hands on the ball, and he played just about every snap for us. |
