I've known Reggie for a while. My son, David, and he are great friends. It's no surprise. I've known he was a classy kid for a long time.

That was to cinch Woody up for a start in a couple of days.

Denny has never pitched out of the bullpen. We weren't sure what we were going to get out of the bullpen from Denny. We have a pretty good idea of what we're going to get from Woody. That probably was the deciding factor.

This rotation could turn upside down at some point. I just hope everybody pitches well.

I'm real paranoid about starting him now and without him being in the best possible condition to pitch a full season. That's my biggest concern. I don't know if he understands that or not.

I'm just concerned about his stamina and durability. He needs to work on getting up his pitch count. He hits 50 pitches and just kind of loses it.

I just kind of determined it was safer to give him a couple more starts.

Graff, obviously, goes in a utility role, but probably a notch above that. We need to get him in the lineup as much as we possibly can, whether it is first, third or second. We'll be able to give those guys a day off here and there. Graff is a good Major League player. He's a good fit for our team.

He pitched really good against us the couple of times we faced San Diego, so he's in the mix for that last couple of bullpen spots.

I'm still a bit concerned about his stamina, his durability and getting deeper into the game. We've got to make sure when he pitches, he's ready to give us some innings. We need to get him starts. How we do that, I'm not sure.

He actually made a pretty good pitch to Manny. But, as you know, Manny has done that before.

I don't think we saw Schilling at his best tonight. But we took advantage of it and that's what we have to do when a guy like that is not at the top of his game.

Health-wise, the other day it was good, but his command was not close. It was not good as we needed it to be. We just want to make sure when he comes up here he is not going to get hammered. It doesn't matter how good you throw, if you don't have your location, you're going to have a tough time getting through an inning in this league.

In his case, because of the lack of innings, I think it might help him. I don't think it will hurt him. If anybody needs winter ball, it would be him. We want to make sure he's healthy going into the season next year, too, so if that means rest after he goes through all this rehab, that could be the best way to go, too.

We have a really strict pitch count for these younger kids.
