Beating a state champion is a huge confidence builder for Peter. We talked after the match, and he said that he played well but not his best. This is something that could really propel his season to the next level. |
He didn't know he was playing varsity until about 10 minutes before we started playing. He had a tough match, and it was impressive the way he came through for us. |
I kind of lean on those four a little bit as to what they think works with this group of kids and what doesn't. They've been a great asset to me. |
I thought we played a very efficient match as a team. Our kids played with a lot of focus. I'm very proud of the effort they gave. |
It's always nice to get a victory on the road in our conference. Tony Chung got his first varsity action this year in singles and won handily. We're looking forward to playing Fort Dodge at home next Tuesday. It should be an outstanding dual and will let us know where we stand against a very, very good team. |
The conference is going to be real competitive. I don't think we're in a situation where we can take anyone lightly. It will be really good motivation for our kids to face such tough competition. |
We have to get better and learn from this. We don't ever want to lose a dual meet, but we want to be playing our best at the end of the season. |
We played well. It was nice to win five singles matches right away. Anytime you can take five singles matches, you feel pretty confident. It was a good team win. |
We're talking about state championships. Is it realistic? I don't know for sure because it's my first run through this conference and district. I'd rather talk that way and come up a little short than to talk about just trying to get to state and have the kids have lower expectations. |
