During the war (World War II) when meat was rationed, customers brought meat to the restaurant to keep it going. This was meat from their farms and out of their own homes. |
Friday's we do prime rib (dinner) and Saturday we do grilled razor clams and oysters (dinner). Everyone seems to love those. They've been a big hit. |
It just keeps it's doors open. It used to be open 24 hours a day. I love some of the stories about when people came 50 years ago, or they came when they were a kid and now they are in their 60s. There is a lot of history here. |
That was a huge attraction for my husband. We've tried to do some catering out at our other place, but the kitchen is a lot smaller and it hasn't worked very well. (Ken) is excited to use exercise his culinary muscle. |
The trucks back then didn't have sleepers on them and they would stop here, eat dinner, sleep in one of the cabins and then eat breakfast the next morning. When I-5 opened the truckers weren't coming by as much. |
