There wasn't a lot of high-powered competition. There were mainly non-Division I schools, but there were definitely some very good athletes. There was not as much competition as a typical meet that we go to, but that's what we wanted right before the Big East conference. |
We did have some people place high, but for us it wasn't as much about placing as much as it was about just competing. In track you can measure how fast you run, how far you throw, or how high you jump week by week. So we were just looking at having everybody progress. Our ultimate goal is to have everyone be competitive at the Big East level. |
We have a pretty young team and with this being our first year in the Big East, I believe we are doing very well. |
We have a string of five straight nationals appearances and we want to continue that. All seven runners from the women's team are back and we are confident that we can be even better. |
We were getting a little frustrated just in that we were looking for some good weather. And for the third meet in a row we didn't get it. This time of year it's kind of hit and miss, and we have been unlucky. |
We were kind of wondering if it was going to impact the meet. We didn't see anything where we drove in to the track. |
We were still a little rusty, and with only a week's worth of practice, the timing and technique of some of the athletes was a little off. The running events went real well. |
We're definitely still learning about the Big East, it's a very tough conference. Right now, I'd like to see our distance runners finish in the top half of the conference, but it's awfully early to tell just how difficult that's going to be. |
