Our game plan going in was to keep Ashley Henderson under control. I thought we were able to do that in the first quarter or so, and it was the biggest key to us starting the way we did. But, in that second half, we broke down on defense a little, especially in guarding [Henderson]. |
Our quickness on defense caused them problems. We're playing our best basketball right now. |
Playing them was not totally unfamiliar turf to us. We went in with a goal of playing a defensive game and letting the chips fall where they may. |
She fits right in. Her height (5-foot, 9 inches) and her ability were the perfect fit for this team. |
She's becoming more of a complete player and not as worried about the scoring box. |
We had a little payback to do from last year. We came into the playoffs with the same record - 21-3 - and we got bumped out in the first round. That was something we haven't focused on, but for everyone who played last year, I think it was in the back of their mind. |
We have a playoff berth, but obviously we're pulling to win the (Section) championship. That's where our focus is. We still have some tough section games left. If we can win out, we'll get a pretty good seed. |
We knew we needed to keep her under control and keep her in front of us. She brings a lot to the table, and her ball speed with the dribble creates challenges as far as getting back on defense -- and even in the half court where we're helping out -- and she's a challenging player. |
We knew we were facing a team that would be very aggressive and present us some challenges. Our challenge was keeping their dribblers in front of us. I thought we did a pretty gosh darn good job. |
We look for Devin in those situations. She feels very comfortable taking a shot when the game is on the line. |
We pride ourselves on how well we play defense. |
We're going to give it a new friend. |
