[Rensselaer] is a much bigger team than we are, but I think they're pretty slow. We want to run the ball. If we can do that, the passing will take care of itself. |
[Saturday's] win was a big one for us going into the Fort Edward game. We helped ourselves mentally and we didn't hurt ourselves physically. This is exactly what we needed. |
[Whitehall] came out here and showed us some things we need to improve. |
Defensively, we were OK. [Whitehall's] backs never really got their shoulders square to the line. We didn't give them any holes and we piled them up. |
He got hit in the jaw and it hurt all the way up to his ear. He was having some pain and some headaches. He probably could have played if we needed him to, but there was no sense in it. |
Offensively and defensively, this is the best we've played all year. |
To put him under the gun in his first game, Shea did well. We didn't really throw, but we didn't really need to. But he ran the offense well. |
We saw some good things today and we saw some bad things. But if you come out and play your best game the first game of the season, you're in trouble. |
When you're fumbling five, six, seven times, it's not good. You can't give the ball over. [Whitehall] only came close to scoring twice and both times it was on fumbles. |
You might not see it in the statistics, but we really played well on defense. Most of [Rensselaer's] yards came in the fourth quarter when we played our starters. |
