I think at some point in time there will be a more informal conversation that I'm sure Andy and I will have about that. First and foremost, I want to get more of a feel for him and his personality and how he handles himself on a day-to-day basis. The last thing I want to do is be overly aggressive with him. I want to get him settled here and let him know this is his family here, and we're excited to have him.

This is more about him getting his mind-set right, to the point where he has his confidence. It's a long season, and you don't have to do it all today.

Casey is a guy who sometimes tries to do too much and puts too much heat on himself.

I felt after talking to them after that last game that there would be a strong resolve coming into this year with the way things ended up last year. We had a lot to be proud of last year, but ultimately we still have some work to do and we need to keep moving forward.

How [a catcher] handles the pitching staff and receiving is always going to be more important than the offense. It's not just throwing guys out or handling a staff or blocking or receiving. It's the total package. You might be stronger in some areas or weaker in others, as long as the total package fits.

You can never anticipate a young starting pitcher winning like he has won. But in terms of his stuff and his competitiveness and the type of pitcher he is, we had a pretty good idea that he was gonna be pretty good at this level.

Now, he needs to keep moving forward. He can't become complacent; he needs to maintain that level of confidence and maintain that level of competitiveness -- and he will.

You want him to frustrate hitters. He knows himself very well. He can make adjustments throughout the course of a game and even during an at-bat.

There's no reason for them to feel pressure. If they do feel pressure, they're not going to get it done, anyway. They just need to trust in their ability and their approach and utilize what they've gone through in their careers.

Aaron has a good feel for running the bases, anyway. Now he'll be a little quicker and stronger on the bases.

Jason is an emotional guy, an intense guy. Those attributes can work for him, but he has to make sure they don't take him out of his delivery.

There's definitely an air of confidence with these guys, and rightfully so. They recognize what they've gone through and what they've accomplished.

We don't have too many decisions to make.

I think this team learned a lot from last year and can grow from it.

They give us a veteran presence. Both have made a lot of starts and pitched a lot of innings in their careers. They will fit in well for us.
