(Friday), the putter abandoned me early, and I never got it back. I went to a little different putting style. And I did roll the ball much better. I had more opportunities. I tried to be a little more patient and continue to hit good shots. Eventually, you're going to make a couple even if you don't putt well. That's what I did the last couple of holes.

As I look out here, ... having to watch Tom Kite with that putting stroke I think to myself ... why has he been playing the PGA Tour? Tom, look at that stroke. That's why you belong here!

As long as I have a chance, that's all I've ever asked of myself.

At least I can see the leader. There are a lot of guys right there. If you're looking at one person, you're probably going to be looking at their brake light. You've got to get really aggressive. You'd better not be looking back.

At the same time, you always take these times and appreciate them more than you did the year before and the year before that.

Coming down the back nine, I just putted poorly. I hit a few loose shots on the back nine. It actually came down to just some very poor putting once again. The putting has been the nemesis over the last three or four months. It's getting to be a little frustrating, I suppose.

Did you see where Freddie hit it?

Every time I won, ... I wasn't sure what I could do. The ultimate shots, the ones you have to hit to win golf tournaments, were never certain with me.

From the fifth to the 17th hole, I went birdie-less. And it wasn't from a lock of opportunities, just from a lack of skill. It seems like I am doing things very, very well or doing some silly things.

He must have left a hole out.

He's a good driver of the ball. He doesn't get himself in predicaments. He certainly has a good iron game and his short game, bar none, is one of the best.

He's done, unfortunately, what I was afraid he was going to do. He came right off the regular tour. There is an intensity level that you still have to have, and to see what he can do with a ball on a putting green ...

I am really proud that I have continued to do as well as I have, particularly considering I have had some back [problems] the past couple of years, ... And pride — I think that is a very important five-letter word.

I am still trying to understand this game, ... I am still learning how to play golf. There are a lot of shots I still don't know. I am still trying to learn, and I think that's a good attitude to have.

I didn't hit it like I should have. Trying to play at the hole, yes, but you have to build in a little room for error, and I didn't build in enough.
