This avoids the holiday election that nobody wants,

This election is wide open because Canadians have a real, a positive and a progressive choice: the option to choose a real alternative to the Liberal broken promises and Conservative wrong-headedness.

This is not a budget that the New Democratic Party will be able to support.

This is not a solution for the future.

This Parliament's life is likely limited.

Unfortunately it has become clear that Paul Martin and his team are not cut from the same cloth as Lester Pearson or Pierre Trudeau. And so, most Canadians think it's time for a change.

Unfortunately, for those of us committed to getting things done in this Parliament . . .there's no basis for our party to express confidence in this government.

We are a democratic party. I respect and support the decision that has been made.

We are very clear,

We cannot express confidence in a government unwilling to act on such a critical issue and we cannot express confidence in a government under the leadership of a party that cannot be trusted to clean up the politics it tainted,

We effectively have a monopoly in the sector, a very small number of very large companies that are setting the prices.

We seem to have reached a serious and fundamental impasse,
|
We want to try to have a productive Parliament that produces some results on the issues that Canadians care most about. We will take a little bit of time, but we're certainly urging the Liberals to respond, because the day may otherwise soon be coming where Canadians will render judgment on Liberal corruption.
