Colby was the class of the meet, running the fastest 3,200 of the night, and pulling away from the field with a solid performance in the 1,600. He's been consistently running under 10 in the 3,200 and we expect with a break in the weather and some good training that he can run in the 30s or 40s by the end of the indoor season. |
The field events also should be much improved this season as Nikki Colombo has looked strong in practice. Along with Tina Herrera, Erin Johnson and Rachael Smith, the lady throwers are on the verge of making their mark in helping the team to league victories. |
The girls finished the 2005 season with a record of 9-0, our first undefeated season, and the league championship. This year's girls group is our largest and most talented team. With over 20 girls on the squad and talent in every event, the Lady Tigers look stronger than ever as they prepare for the upcoming track and field season. Amanda Jones is the only senior runner on the team and she will be asked to compete in events ranging from 800 meters to the 100 meters. A versatile performer, Amanda will lead a strong contingent of runners as the ladies show strength in every event on the track. |
The Tigers' time of 8:39 is the second-fastest time so far this season by a Division II team, with Pearl River running 8:35 last weekend. The effort definitely put the Tiger distance runners on the charts as one of the top contenders for state honors later in the year. |
This was a great opening meet for the girls, as they swept Kennedy and North Salem in the first time outdoors this season. |
Undoubtedly, this was Chris' best performance to this point considering the weather conditions. Like the longer relay team, the 1,600-meter team proved that they will be in the hunt as the season continues. |
