When I saw Japan's roster, I was surprised there were a couple of players missing from the team we played in Japan two winters ago.

This is up there with anything that I've ever done. It's disheartening.

Everybody now sees how good international baseball is. It's going to be a long three years waiting for this to come around again.

There's no doubt this team shouldn't be out in the second round.

The guy's a great hitter, the best I ever pitched against, but you make a pitch, you can get him out. I felt confident in my ability to make that that pitch. I didn't want to put any more guys on base.

I feel sick to my stomach. You hate to see anybody get injured, but it's especially tough to see this happen to Adam. I've known him as long as I've known anybody in baseball. It's the same thing he did with us last season. He was out two months.

He's in good spirits, but it's tough.

This was a big year for him. I never pull against people, but you always pull for your buddies. I'm one of his biggest fans. I grew up in the game with the guy and I hate it he's going to miss time.

In '09, I'll be the first one to sign up to be a part of it. What an experience. It's something you'll always remember, like All-Star games and pitching in the playoffs.

I'm not going to be stupid. But I don't intend to walk him every time I face Bonds. What I do will depend on the situation. I'll get him at times, and he'll get me at times.

I really do like this team. I think this team is the best team I've been on with the Padres.
