Again, it's experience. We get nervous in those situations because we haven't played enough matches. You have to win those big points. |
Both of them hit the ball to the net man too much. In doubles that's kind of a cardinal sin. You hit the ball to the net man and they're going to shove it in your face and you should expect that. They both hit returns to the net man and they both got it shoved in their face. |
I don't understand it. Early in the season, we were playing quality 6A schools and we were competing with them. We'd either lose a close match or win a close match. I don't really know what's going on with them now. |
It was back and forth. I know at one point he was up 5-4 and then he was up 6-5. Then he lost a couple games, dropped down to 6-7 and then had to battle back. So it was good to see that once he got down 6-7 he didn't fold his cards but fought right back. |
It's an experience thing, which is what we've struggled with in the past. I've got first-year players who are juniors playing against kids who were at racquet clubs regularly when they were 12. Without that experience you get too concerned with what your opponent is doing instead of yourself. |
She moved the ball around pretty well. We had done some target training in practice. She hit the target today and made that girl move. |
They did a lot of good things. They had a lot of fun. That's something my other doubles teams didn't have. They kept each other up. That can go a long way. |
We're going to have a heart-to-heart. I might have to bring up some freshmen and sophomores that have been coming to practice and working hard. At least they'll play with some fire. We don't have much time, so we need to start making a run. |
