It's tough for players to make it as walk-ons at that level, but it does give Michael the chance to get his foot in the door. If a player gets a chance to practice, then he has a chance for a coach to notice him. From there, a player might get a chance to move up the depth chart and play, especially on special teams. |
There is no need to sugar coat things. Slocomb played a great game. They whipped us up front all night long. We didn't do a good job against their playmakers. We also didn't do a good job of taking advantage of good field position. Our game plan was poor and that's my fault. |
We knew Andalusia was the kind of team that was going to get a lot of yards just because they're so big. We had to show some patience against them. We felt if we could keep making them take another snap they would eventually make a mistake. In a lot of ways, our defense was our offense. |
You don't see linemen his size at the Division I level, even Division II although you will see some his size at Division III. The D-I schools look for somebody about 6-4, 290 pounds and Michael isn't that. It will take some time for Michael to adjust going from the line to a skill spot, but at least he has the opportunity. |
