In having this treatment and as they go through life we need to know what's happened to them. |
Our airport has been very lucky over the years with very few serious accidents. |
Our clients are also our friends. They become family as soon as they experience this airport. We return the courtesy and it shows in our rapport with them. |
Our runways are all grass, one of the last turf airports in the state. The two runways form a 'T' with one nearly east to west and the other north to south. One is 1,600 feet long and the other is 2,300 feet. |

The real boss and director of flight operations is 'Gus,' our formerly homeless shepherd-mix dog. |
This place has been in our family since right after World War II. Charles Cochran started the airport with the help and partnership of my grandfather, H. Edward Barclay, who owned the large farm it is built on. When Mr. Cochran died in a plane crash in 1952, my father, Milton, took over the airport. He made many improvements and investments in the airport. He was famous for his mechanical genius and parts department. I took over the airport when my dad retired in 1978. |
We have a lot of professional commercial pilots who come here to fly 'seat of the pants' and 'stick and rudder' planes. They like to get back to basics after all the hours in the big planes. |
You could see planes parked on both sides of the runways all the way from the office to the wind vane. The colors were brilliant in the May sunshine. I just hate to see the sun set on such an American icon, the small turf havens of aviation. |
