We did it, but it's tough to get all the way through. It won't surprise me to see somebody playing a fourth game in four days, the league is like that this year. This was the most games that came down to last three minutes, at least our most in 10 years and yet we were 27-2, which means we were there to finish the deal. But in a one-game tournament anything can happen. |
We did things necessary to stop our opponents at crucial times and win games. Defensive rebounds and taking good shots in the last four to five minutes. |
We did what we could with the schedule put before us. We passed every test. |
We didn't shoot well (39 percent). But we played well. We played better than we did in our previous two wins over St. John's and Louisville. Providence was young and tenacious and gave us fits. But we were more athletic and more experienced. |
We dodged a bullet. We had new life. We needed an adrenaline shot and we got it. |
We don't have anybody on our team, through our first Big East game, that plays like an all-star. I'll probably have to make some changes in the starting lineup because there's a couple players, some big names, who aren't doing very much. |
We don't know what this week and, hopefully, weekend is going to bring. |
We drew the entire country in to watch history being made and history wasn't made. Thank God because of the performance of these kids. |
We got completely taken out of our offense and we came down and did nothing but cast up prayers. I'm just stunned by the way we played. |
We got out ahead and they just took over the game as we started standing around. But we came back with that run which really speaks to the character of this team. |
We have Marcus Williams who made big plays down the stretch. We turned up the defense the last four or five minutes. |
We have no one like Brandon Roy. Nobody does. |
We have not seen each other as a group, I didn't watch any of the games. I just kind of stayed away, did things with my wife, shopping. |
We have to be a much more focused team. We need to stay connected. We seem to fix our mistakes as games go on. But a full 40 minutes of focus is what we're going to need. |
We have to keep reminding them they?re the No. 1 team in the country to get them to truly believe how good they are. I mean, I spent two hours against Albany trying to get my team to truly believe that. Let?s put it this way: For 28-3, we?re not an overly confident basketball team. On the contrary, this is a team that sometimes has had crises of confidence. |
