Give them credit for hitting some shots and doing a nice job moving the ball. But we certainly didn't play defense like we're capable of. There will definitely be some fury unleashed after we watch game films at 7 a.m. (today). |
God, have these guys achieved more than I ever would've dreamed. We proved that we can compete with good teams. I'm so proud of these guys. |
Greg came to the forefront during the fourth quarter, which he's done so often for us. He was constantly tipping the ball inside, keeping it alive, and also pulled down some key rebounds for us. |
Greg Hill had a great game for us. We rode him to this victory. Michigan City's tough to play. They're got athletes and quickness, just like us. |
He played with passion. He was an interior force. He took us all out to lunch. |
I already know the draw. In all my years coaching, I have never once gotten the bye. How can that be? Maybe the basketball gods will smile on this old man for once. |
It was his choice as to what kind of shot he wanted to take. Greg will tell you that his favorite shot to take is a three-pointer. |
It's a tremendous accomplishment for this group of kids. To be co-champions with certainly one of the top five, six teams in the state (Valparaiso), I'm extremely proud of them. They have accomplished as much during the regular season as any team I've had. |
Let's be realistic, the best we could've hoped for was middle of the pack. |
Obviously, we want to stay in the conference race. Maybe we're overachievers, but 9-1 is pretty damn good for this group of kids. |
The bottom line is we took command of that ballgame in the second half and that's been our strong point recently. It was a little crazy at the end -- we didn't handle the ball well and tried to score instead of running clock -- but the kids followed the game plan and hung with it. |
We were very fortunate to win this game. We didn't play better basketball, you have to give a lot of credit to Chesterton. |
What a great, great guy. |
