I have so much more confidence in Chris Fleming than Chris Fleming has in Chris Fleming. Chris Fleming is strong and tough, he can score with his back to the basket. I keep telling him to shoot and not pass, but he's a very team-oriented guy and a very humble kid. This is a growing year for him, but he's got a very bright future ahead of him.

The whole idea is to stay upbeat, positive, totally committed to what we want to do and what we want to accomplish, but just to do it in a relaxed atmosphere. It's not to feel like ?Oh my goodness, we're here now at the Final Four.

These guys made their free throws down the stretch. We were able to come away and move into the Elite 8 … that sounds awfully good.

He (Carter) was great. Not just the three pointer, but everything he did on the floor tonight. I do think that got us back to thinking positively again because there was a stretch in the second half where we got a little bit frustrated because we couldn't score.

The whole D.C. Metropolitan area has kind of adopted this team.

David has not won the national champion-ship yet.

The upset formula is basically this. Everybody knows on any given night, the saying goes, that anybody can beat anybody. That's not actually true, because if there's a huge discrepancy in talent, if the game is played on the stronger team's home court with a lot of other factors in their favor, then the odds of [the underdog] winning are minimal. ... In this game, obviously, Connecticut has so much talent at so many different positions on the floor, we're going to have to really analyze what we do so that our players know, this is our focus, this is our strength.

These guys really like each other and like playing together. As long as we keep doing that, anything is possible. These guys have no fear.

The success that we have enjoyed is because these guys have been able to pool their skills together and develop into a great basketball team.

Our league didn't get the respect that we know it deserves. We had a great league and it prepared us very well for this tournament, and I think that's why we're doing so well.

Three weeks ago, I was one of those coaches. I worked at this craft for 35 years. I've been to two Final Fours, but not as a head coach. Twenty years I sat there, 'The Final Four,' hoping one day I might be able to bring a team there. Actually I think I changed my goals -- just give me an at-large berth, I would settle for that. You've got to understand how difficult it is, when you're not one of the top six or seven leagues, to get an at-large.

Nobody plays as well as they can play when they're all stressed out.

I liked that. So I left it at that.

It's not something that is given to you. It's something you earn. Something we strongly emphasize to our players is that for us, we need to earn respect. Nobody is going to give it to us.

I was kidding with one of my assistants. 'We're not just an at-large team, we're an at-extra-large. And if we win today, we're going to be an at-extra-double large.' I can't tell you how much fun I'm having.
