It's not how we've written it up in spring training, but the show must go on. The other people, the backup people, have to step up and get it done, and they will. It's just a difficult moment right now. That's all, but nobody's quitting.

It's one of the funniest plays in all of sports. He runs hard, and he runs fast. He's intense.

It's part of the strategy of this team. Our strength is going to be speed, and I want them to see what we can do.

It's really an interesting group. They're very athletic. They played so well in the second half. You know, they're scary to play against. If these guys get hot and you're in the other dugout, you don't want to play these guys, and I hope to continue that.

It's so easy to be negative. But I don't know of any situation that ever became better without a positive attitude. I just don't know how that happens. To go out and heap more pressure and more negativity on a group of people seems to invite what you had in the past.

It's still sore. At this point, throwing bothers him more than hitting, so we have to be a little more patient with that.

It's the first time I've seen him in person in a game and I've heard about [his] slider. I didn't realize it was that good. That thing just goes away. I was pretty impressed with the high-riding fastball, good slider. First time out. I thought he threw the ball really well.

It's tough to watch in the beginning. But I am not concerned at all. I'm not upset.

It's unfortunate. Things like that tend to follow [a player], I'd have to agree with that.

It's up to us to find out who's going to be our next regular closer. The next (guy) everybody wants. He may be here already. We're going to find that out.

J.P., part of bringing him over was because I thought he was a good catcher defensively also. He does not have the strongest throwing arm in baseball. But he throws well enough. The other part of his game was really good. And I thought his offense was better than what people were giving him credit for. ... Those two guys together, I think they compliment each other. I think they're good for each other. So they're both going to play a lot.

Joey can be a force, an absolute force.

Let's see how it goes. I don't know yet. All I know is that he was really impressive today. I'll never come down to that evaluation this early in camp, but all I know is that he's on the right track.

Lugo is just sore. Like he told me, if it was [the] regular season, he would have stayed in the game [on Thursday].

Michelangelo aimed high. He talks about if you aim low, the concern is that you might hit the mark. So were not going to aim low, were going to aim high and see what happens.
