Is there a changing of the guard in British tennis? I think there is. I predicted a few months ago that Murray would be in the top 20 around Wimbledon and I think there is an excellent chance of that happening. You see a guy like Murray and you see the potential that is there. |
It can work. Hopefully, we can find a way into some of the big events; a combination of places like Naples, as well as having an event at the U.S. Open or Wimbledon. |
It puts into perspective how good my year was in '84, that he put in that sort of effort when he probably shouldn't have played. People are now going to start believing Roger is human. |
It seems like such a shame where it is right now. I feel the same way about Davis Cup. I was one of the last top guys to play both singles and doubles, and to have success at both. To watch this take place is really disappointing. |
It was nice to see how hard he was trying to beat my record because perhaps now people will realize that it's not easy as it looks to go 82-3. Roger has had a phenomenal year, he came up one short, but while it would have been nice to be tied with him, it is still sort of cool that I still have one record. |
It would be fitting; I hope he does it. For a country like Croatia, it would mean even more than when I did it for the States. |
It would be more interesting, more exciting, if a player lost a point if wrong on the second challenge. It would make the player think before challenging. Particularly in a tie-breaker where every point counts. |
It's a fabulous place [Buckingham Palace], I'll never forget it, and the right guy won. |
It's all about Roger and then it's about the others, |
It's great for tennis, and it's not just the fact that they're Americans ? although we want the Americans to do well here at our championships, |
It's hard to be in a booth five hours, step out of the booth and be on the court in 20 minutes. I feel like I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to get into the commentating, and I want to do that right and correctly, and I'm not sure I have enough in the tank, so to speak, to do both. |
It's like a second chance for the fans and the players -- an opportunity for us to show people that we've still got it. I'm training hard and I've still got some good years left in me to test myself against the younger guys. |
It's scary how good he is. |
It's the physical part for Andre: Is Andre going to be fresh enough? ... And it's the mental part for James: Is it going to be too overwhelming for him? He's playing a guy he really looks up to and respects. A lot of times that's like being down a break. |
James is the story. But Andre is our living legend that's still playing, trying to win one more Slam before he gives up. I think it's going to be a little difficult for the fans -- maybe a little bit similar to when Venus and Serena [Williams] play, the fans don't know who to root for. |
