Every jump I've had has been getting better since I left the United States. ... I'm in a position now where I can really help the team and be a pretty valuable member. I feel like if we can all step it up a little bit, we could be in good shape tomorrow. |
It was really nice to go out and be myself again. My goal was to go out and ski my own race. I didn't really focus on where I was in jumping or where I was in the pack. I just wanted to go out and ski fast from start to finish, and that's what I did today. I'm really happy with that. |
It's about as birdlike as you can get without an airplane. |
That's about where the similarities end. |
That's something we deal within the team. After the jumping, we used this as preparation for the next competition. It was really over after the jumping. It's a big disappointment. |
There is a reason why Steam--boat has so many Olympians, and it's not because we have exceptional athletes or anything else. It's because we have an entire town working hard toward the same goal. |
There is always a time when people are ready to move on. It's Todd's decision to make, and we all wish him the best. He taught me how to be a good competitor. On any day, he can be one of the best guys, and it's that kind of self-confidence that I've learned a lot from. I've learned don't ever count yourself out. |
They tried to force a competition at the Olympics. The conditions were not fair. It's disappointing because we have time to have a fair competition, but they are just trying to get it out of the way. |
To create that kind of competitive environment within the team is what we are going to have to do compete and be successful. That, and maybe a few more trips to Europe in the summer. |
When I was younger, I would wake up 15 times the night before an event. But I think it's a little bit of a comfort level, too. I'm comfortable with how I'm skiing and how we are doing right now. But I'm definitely really excited about tomorrow, and it will probably be hard to get to sleep tonight. |
