It's noticeable. It's 40,000 [fans] in Boston, standing up in the first inning with two strikes, |
Just the atmosphere -- you can hear yourself think. There, you can't hear anything. The pressure that not only the team puts on you but the fans put on you, it [makes] a big difference. |
Man, Travis is good. He's got power to all fields. He might not get as much hype as David Ortiz or guys like that. He's been kind of been hiding in the AL Central. But he's well known to us pitchers. |
My personal opinion is I will never as long as I have a vote, vote for a guy who doesn't play both sides of the field, |
Ninety pitches, that should be nine innings. |
That's the one I was the most proud of from last season. Even when I was going through it, I knew it was kind of cool. I'm being consistent and I'm giving the guys a chance to win. That's what any pitcher wants. |
The two home runs -- those aren't good hitters. Nothing for nothing, but they're hitting .240 for a reason. But they're like any other Major League hitter. You make a mistake, they're going to hit it hard. |
The two home runs, those aren't very good hitters. Nothing for nothing, but they're hitting .240 for a reason. |
The umpire talked to me and said (the pitches) were very close, they were just a little off. After the second inning, I think I turned around and discovered a little something I was doing wrong. I think I was rushing and I was definitely leaving the ball up a little bit. |
They don't go through the grind other guys go through defensively, diving after balls, chasing balls. If you make an error, it might affect you but if you're a DH, you don't go through any of that. You just hit. As good a hitter as he is, and he's one of the best, no question, I could never vote for a guy who doesn't do play defense. |
They don't go through the grind others do defensively, diving after balls, chasing balls, if you make an error how it might affect you next at bat. If you're a DH you don't go through any of that. You just hit. So as good a hitter as he is, and he's one of the best in the game, no question, I can never vote for him. That's all. |
Those just happened to be perfect mistakes for those hitters. Those two home runs, they aren't very good hitters. Nothing for nothing, but they are hitting .240 for a reason. |

We made some good pitches in the first, just not good enough. They scored another run in the fourth that was the game-winner. So as much as we settled down, we still gave it back up to them. |
We were in a good position going into the ninth, and then we had our closer out there. |
