 I really wanted there to be that sense that we weren't going to be talking about an issue that happens somewhere else with somebody else's kid. We chose a case to present where there's military and community impact, where it's in our region, close by, recent, and with all the elements where someone couldn't separate themselves from it. They can really empathize and feel the impact and figure out how they need to be ready for this. |
| Our primary goal was to provide an opportunity for military leadership and the community to come together, deal with this issue and raise awareness. They need to have a chance to meet each other and work together. You cannot address [these issues] without working collaboratively. These cases just don't happen in a vacuum. They can cross all sorts of lines, into the community, the military, etc. |
| The military has been making great progress in the last year in regards to adult sexual assault cases with the new reporting options. We really want people to know, whether or not an assault happened yesterday or eight years ago, there are people here to assist with that. |
