finally woke up one day and realized that I spent a lot of time alone. |
Guys, ... You now own the Newtown bypass. |
It brought up a lot of mixed feelings, ... At a certain point I realized I just had to let go and let it wash over me. And it was such a remarkable collection of people playing amazing music. Just the vibe in the room, I'd never felt so appreciated. I'm an only child and it's easy for me to feel alone in the world, and it counteracted a lot of the thoughts that I have running in my head. It was such a clear outpouring of love and generosity from people. That's a remarkable feeling, one that I don't normally let myself enjoy. |
It's still pretty surreal. It might not sink in until they're home, or until they go back to school and the other kids are all talking about it. |
Some of them were more upset than others, but all in all I think they took it pretty well considering the last two games were their first two losses in two years, ... I get more from these kids off the field than on the field. They're gentlemen. Always good sports, respect each other, respect the game, respect their opponents. |
That whole improvisational aspect really excites us, ... It's so edgy because it's so in the moment, and anything can happen. It requires you to be so engaged the entire time. You can't drift off and just play your part because you'll get lost. We seem to thrive on that edge. In the beginning, we rehearsed more, but the band is not known for its polished, rehearsed arrangements. |
