I had it figured out who needed to finish where, and I got it wrong. I lost a car somewhere and figured I was out of it. I was feeling about as down as you could feel until the NASCAR guys came to the window.

I was prepared for another letdown. We're going to race like hell [Sunday]. I had prepared myself to load up. This is kind of a surprise. If I win it, I am going to retire.

I'm hoping we can get one of the Busch teams to pit us on Sunday. If some sponsors come out of the woodwork, maybe we can buy some new tires, too. That'd be a nice luxury.

We couldn't keep up with the other cars, but I guess we beat all the wrecked ones.

Without a big corporate deal it was hard to pull off. People jumped in and helped like the Lopez family. ... They paid the whole tire bill, but I don't think they want us to talk about that. They are some devoted Dale Sr. fans.
