We have people who will get on a motorcycle in the dead of winter and ride 350 miles to go to a funeral of a complete stranger and stand there for an hour, at attention, give a salute and go home.

We got a nice batch early in the year, but the long-range outlook had us warmer than normal, so this shouldn't be too much of a surprise.

The group is made up mostly of motorcyclists who have served in the military, but it's not a requirement.

We've hit upon a raw patriotic nerve in Americans searching for a way to identify with those who are supporting and defending our freedoms.

Turn your backs on them. Among motorcycle groups, that's the ultimate sign of disrespect. You're telling them they don't exist. They're non-entities. They don't matter.

They'll start right in, hollering all kinds of outrageous things. They're going to try and incite anyone they can. They'll tie U.S. flags to their ankles and drag them through the dust. Then when they get to the area police have set aside for them . . . they'll spit on the flags and blow their noses on them.

Just follow our lead. They'll eventually lose steam and turn tail. You just have to turn your back on them.
