He's in such good form and he's playing with plenty of quality and enthusiasm. He's really rejuvenated his career this season. |
He's just pulled up with a slight groin strain after last week's game, but he should be fine to train at our captain's run on Thursday. |
He's one guy amongst a number of others we'll be looking at. We've made no approaches at this stage but we need to look at what's available to fill that position. |
He's still struggling a bit with his neck and didn't train today (Thursday). We got an x-ray done and it came back pretty clear so we're hopeful he'll still be able to play. We hope to have him back on the training paddock tomorrow. |
Hopefully he'll recover, and be right in a couple of weeks time. |
I don't know what the market price is mate, but he's worth whatever you pay for him. |
I guess with the new coach and given the injuries at the back end of last season, it's probably a clean slate for everybody in contention. |
I have no problem with Matthew taking that deal, from the figures that I understand the ballpark to be. He's a young man who can set himself up for the rest of his life, so that's a sound decision on his behalf. You can't knock back that sort of money, but we're very sorry to see him go. |
I hope it is done soon for our own quality and to encourage other players to stay or come here. |
I think everybody will be primed for a good performance. And I guess I'd rather have experienced players who've been there and done that than a whole host of players who haven't. I'd rather be in our shoes than their shoes. |
I would stress that this is a function of the way football is going. It's an enormously tough game in the forwards. To think you can be a starting player week in and week out over potentially all of the Super 14 games is an unrealistic expectation. |
I'm not sure he left to play fullback. He could have stayed with us and contended for a fullback or wing place. |
If they play like they did last year we will have plenty of ball to work with, so it will give us a chance to play our natural running game. |
It certainly wasn't our greatest game. But it was a very good test of our character. |
It's a bit of a domino effect. We'll wait and see what happens with Drew Mitchell, although I fear there may be some third-party offers that could lure him over to the Western Force. |
