 I am excited about the impact I pray it has. I hope it is helpful and reveals the unnecessary suffering that goes on with the mentally ill, a broken and under funded system and the stigma that goes along with being mentally ill. I hope it helps people be less sensitive. |
| It has been a challenging experience to go back, and the type of challenge is different for everyone I take there. Some people I interview are off guard by how disturbing it really is, and some are ready to say goodbye. Some have a profound hunger to go back. My impression is that it is a healing experience, and the audience, through the filming, is healed by the reaction to going there. |
| This is a significant benchmark in a process that began six years ago. Since those first visits to the hospital in the summer or 1999, my personal journey has dramatically broadened in focus. The film also shows the passage of time in that my hair has turned progressively grey. |
