One of the best classes I ever took was entrepreneurship in my freshman year at Indiana University. It really motivated me. There is much more to starting a business than just understanding finance, accounting, and marketing. Teaching kids what has worked with startup companies and learning about experiences that others have had could really make a difference. I know it did for me. |
Somebody said that he was trying to break up a fight. There was no fight. He just pushed him. He put his hands to his chest and pushed him. By the way everybody reacted, everybody knew there was a problem, except for the official that got pushed. |
Sports, music, movies - basically, fans of any form of entertainment don't do a resume analysis before picking their favorite. |
That shows you how much I had been paying attention. |
That was the worst half of officiating I've ever seen. That was terrible, and I want it on the record I said that at halftime, no matter what the outcome. |
That would get awful expensive. |
The change has been in place, this has been an extension of it. Under the new rules, flexibility is at a premium as opposed to our approach in years past to accumulate assets to trade. That doesn't work anymore. |
The gaming commission appears to actually enforce rules of play, unlike the SEC, |
The idea is to give the consumer three choices: go to the movies, get the movie on pay TV or buy the DVD. |
The Mercury sponsorship gives us the ability to support our independent film community and the films themselves to the best of our ability. |
The No. 1 job for a GM at a lot of places is not to win a championship, but to keep their jobs. That's not Avery. And that's not Donnie. |
The policies and actions of Senator Hatch are very concerning to me from what I read and from my personal interactions with him, |
The system allows us to look at every play, in every way, and to tie it back to stats. So, we can watch how we played every pick and roll, track our success rate and also see how other teams are doing it. It's an invaluable resource that makes us smarter when combined with a lot of advanced statistical analysis we do. |
The template for success in the NBA changed from the Portland model of 1999-2000, when I got to the league, to the Detroit, San Antonio, Miami model. Although we have succeeded on the court to the point of five straight 50-plus win seasons, we certainly didn't do it 'the best way.' We did it the most expensive way. It cost us flexibility and created lots of bad habits. That was my mistake, and it ended up costing us Mike (Finley). |
The worst thing we can do is bury our heads in the sand and pretend it can't happen again, ... 'The War Within,' even though it didn't do well at the box office, on DVD it's going to be reminding people for years to come. Because it's a powerful, powerful movie. If we can make a movie that reminds people over and over again that you always have to be vigilant or 9/11 can happen again, then it's the most patriotic thing I could ever possibly do. |
