Coming into those situations and getting on the field in the heat of battle and having to make plays will definitely help. Whether it be the short term or long term, being in those environments will help me. |
Complete the ball, moving the chains and being decisive with the football. My role is to help move the offense. To have a run game like we have, it takes a lot of pressure off. |
He wants to be a little more consistent passing the ball. He's done that this preseason. He's taken giant steps towards becoming a much better passer. Mike's been sharp this preseason with his reads and his footwork and his timing. |
I felt I was inbounds; I tried to make sure I got my foot on the ground and dove, making sure to stay inbounds. The official called me out, so I can't really do much about it. |
I'm happy with the way I performed. I thought I came out and made some good decisions and gave us a chance. |
It changes the mentality of the mindset a little bit knowing you have to be ready from the get-go, but I'm going to prepare the same, as if I was the backup or if I have to play a lot. That's my role. That's what I have to do each week. |
It changes your mentality and mind-set a little bit, ... But I prepare the same, whether I'm the backup or I'm going to play a lot. That's my role. |
It helps to see the looks that you watch on film, ... Seeing them reacting and running their plays as opposed to sitting back with mental reps, watching someone else do it and then have to go in there and run them. I just need to get better and completing more balls, moving the chains and being decisive with the football. |
It was a pretty good play by Fred. The ball bounced off his head but he came up with it and was able to roll into the end zone. If you know Fred, that kind of play really fits his personality because he's a funny guy. |
It was a variety of things. They came out with a little bit different scheme and some things we had to adjust to. And as the game went on in the second and fourth quarter, we were able to adjust to them and had some things work out for us. |
Mike stayed near me, when I came off, he gave me some words of encouragement. More or less on game day, he kind of kept his distance from me. If you have a lot of guys talking to you on game day . . . you just want to go out and play. |
Not too bad for the quarterbacks, I guess, |
That's part of being a backup quarterback, I guess. You never know when you're going to play. You have to be ready in a moment's notice, you're always one play away, and that's my approach. |
You're just one play away at all times and you've got to be ready and into the game for when you're called upon if something would happen to the starter. |
