Carly did a good job stepping up and competing. Some others didn't. |
Hopefully it gave them some time to absorb everything. |
I always think we can win. I always believe we have a chance. |
I felt like we could utilize our inside game. I thought Sarah Elliott played a beautiful first half. She knocked down some shots and had a nice touch around the glass. |
I think our players had a lot of poise down the stretch, which for the last couple of years we haven't had that. I think we've grown up a lot in the last two to three weeks. |
I thought both teams started the game very intense. Georgia's athleticism and quickness on the perimeter really forced us into some early turnovers and Georgia was able to covert those turnovers into baskets. Georgia shot extremely well. We couldn't get anything started offensively. |
I thought early, we let Hand get some good looks with the 3. But I thought as the game progressed, we were able to take away the 3. Our perimeter defense has been pretty solid all year. |
I'm not sure why that is. Maybe it's our youth or the added pressure of playing there. |
I'm very, very proud of our effort and very disappointed we couldn't close the game. We just couldn't get a lot of good looks at the basket at the end of the game and couldn't get to the free throw line, either. We really struggled to score the last five minutes of the game. |
I've been waiting all season to see that. They made me wait until the end. |
It certainly gives us a lift. Our motto this year has been to earn respect. It's earned. It's never just given to you. It's just another way of validating the fact that we have made some progress at Kentucky. |
It feels good to be in this position. It's been awhile for Kentucky. This team is very deserving. |
It really is madness. This is the standard everyone measures their opening practice by. |
It's a great, great win. It's almost like I'm sitting here in a dream. |
It's an honor to be recognized by your peers for your hard work and accomplishments, but it all boils down to the players buying into what you want them to do. You can know all the basketball in the world, but if your team can't commit to play hard and play together, then all that basketball doesn't mean much. |
