Jamie battled. He's been sick as a dog for a couple of days, but he battled. I was surprised he wound up with more strikeouts than Schilling [8-7]. |
Jamie did a very good job. He threw well enough to win, but so did the other guy. |
Jamie was fine. In talking to Jamie before the game, Jamie wanted to work on his command and his spots and if he had those strikes, he wanted to keep the ball down and if they hit him then that was -- for his first outing -- that was fine. And they did, but they hit them at people so that was good. |
Jamie was good. His outing today, to go along with what Hernandez did last night, it makes you feel pretty good. We just have to continue to do that. |
Jamie's the prime candidate, and beyond that you really don't necessarily want two left-handers going back-to-back. So, our No. 2 starter would probably be a right-hander. |
Jaret's come a long way, |
Jarrod should be a great fit for our rotation. With the left-handed hitting in the AL West and in our ballpark, it's nice to have another lefty. |
Jarrod threw the ball very, very well. He was outstanding. We just couldn't score runs off the other guy. |
Jeff came in and threw strikes. He competed. And he's versatile, too. He can start, he can relieve, he can spot-start. |
Jeff had a seven-pitch first and 35-pitch second, and we were hoping he'd adjust somewhere in the middle. But he couldn't. His location was off and his command, and command is the key element to success on a consistent basis. |
Jeff was up with everything, and behind hitters all night. Meche looked awfully good, with a good fastball and a nasty curve. That's what we were hoping to see. |
Jeremy is our best option. |
Jeremy showed up today with a sore left wrist. Crashing into the wall [in the second inning Thursday night] probably took its toll, but I think he'll be OK with a day's rest. And Lopez hurt his wrist taking early BP today. We don't think it's serious. |
Jo is not a wallflower. He has a presence. |
Joel needs to believe in his ability to get big-league hitters out. Not that he ever lost that, but he needs to re-establish that. |
