When you're trying to win a playoff-caliber football game, you need to have all three parts play at that level. Not only the level of play-making ability, but also the level of poise and the level of intelligence or smartness.

We've tried to make it so simple to give them instruction, 'Look, if you think it's going to help us, show it. If you think it's going to hurt us, don't show it. That's kind of how we've simplified it to. Maybe you need a football guy running the replay thing. Seriously, I don't know. We've got to look at all of that.

He'll be out again this week. But he continues to get better. There's still some swelling in there. He's progressing very nicely. He looks a lot more promising today for Chicago than maybe last week. So that's good to know.

We'll send it in. It's not going to do us a lot of good now. ... Maybe they didn't have the right camera angle. I don't know.

The two biggest things in the game are not staying on the field on third down, and not getting off the field on third down. Defensively, the coaches tried a lot of different things.

I'm not sitting here trying to make excuses for our failure. But still, we can accomplish a little bit of a better taste in our mouths if we can win the game on Sunday.

This game [at Baltimore] is going to be the same as this week's - the same thing. Whether they have Ray [Lewis] in there or not, they still have an excellent defense. They still have another couple players that can play. It doesn't make it any easier, obviously, but what we have to worry about is Baltimore and getting that ninth victory.

I could see [the defense] in the fourth quarter getting a little frustrated. I know it was tough on them...that's two weeks in a row. We are all human beings, and when guys are working that hard, I'm not going to say there's going to be any finger-pointing. But I'd be a fool to say they're not frustrated. You kind of try to see how they come off the field or go on the field.

I don't have any doubt that he will play. What level and how long will he be able to play? Come out for a couple plays, let it settle down and then go back in?

It confuses me, I guess. Maybe they're not really diehard season-ticket holders, or maybe they needed the money for Christmas presents.

Maybe, in their defense, they sold the tickets when ... we were 2-5. Maybe they said, 'The heck with it. I'm not going to that.' Maybe that's the case. Or maybe Pittsburgh fans are just a little more diehard than our fans.

Look, when you go to some stadiums, it's so deafening that you can't hear. When you have 15,000-20,000 of the opponent's fans in there, it's not deafening. There is a difference. The fans that were there were great. But it wasn't like a big game when it's just your guys in there.

What history? What tradition? Losing four Super Bowls? Not selling out at (former home stadium) Met Stadium?

I talked to Brian about three weeks ago to see how he was doing. I know he was under a little bit of heat. Of course, I know what that is like, so I figured I'd see how he was doing, since normally, five or six times a year, he calls me to see how I'm doing when I'm under heat.

It is going to be a good challenge for us. It is going to be a lot of fun.
